A Gathering Place

Laie has been designated as a gathering place for the area's young single adult members.  The common area of the Heber J Grant building (1st floor) and connected classrooms are currently being used. A gathering place involves much more than just an institute

class.  It includes:

  • Institute classes
  • Come follow me study groups
  • Service and social activities
  • Temple and family history activities
  • Missionary and outreach activities
  • Other activities to meet local needs such as self-reliance, pathway, and literacy programs
We are in the process of organizing a YSA Committee so that we can plan the above activities and increase access for the YSA in the Laie, Kahuku, Sunset, Hau'ula, Ka'a'awa and surrounding areas. This committee will meet monthly under the direction of a priesthood leader as determined by President Haverly, President of the Laie YSA 2nd stake.  This stake has been designated by our local Area Authority Seventy.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Elder & Sister Lloyd or a member of your stake presidency.

So far the stakes with additional support from CES have supported the acquisition of a ping pong table, a foosball table, a nine square game, board games, and food for events.

More importantly, a gathering place is composed of people so YSAs and their friends can gather and participate in wholesome activities and have experiences that will bring them closer to one another and to God.
